Lok Manch demands compensation to farmers for losses
10/25/2021 11:43:59 PM

EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, Oct 25: A meeting of Lok Manch was held today under the presidentship of Kulbhushan Singh. It discussed the destruction of crops, vegetables and fruits due to heavy rain and hailstorm in Jammu region and hefty snowfall in Kashmir region.
This natural devastation has broken the back of the farmers. The Lok Manch, therefore, demands that the government should immediately provide compensation to the farmers for the damage caused to their crops, vegetables and fruits.
Lok Manch believes that the cause behind most of the natural disasters occurring in today's world is the corporate capitalist system, under which the pro-corporate government allows such houses to earn maximum profits by misusing and overusing natural resources.
Because of this the storm, rain, hail, snowfall or drought affects the crops, vegetables and fruits of the farmers every year and hundreds of farmers are forced to commit suicide. It is also giving rise to poverty, unemployment, inflation, scarcity, inequality and corruption.
Not only this, the government has already put the farmers in trouble by getting three such anti-farmer laws passed in the Parliament, against which farmers have been struggling for a year to get them repealed. But all this is falling on the deaf ears of the government.
Lok Manch once again demands that the government should provide compensation at the earliest to the farmers for the damage caused by the natural devastation.
