| Engagement of Coaches has to be done in a transparent manner: High Court | | |

JAMMU, Oct 25: A division bench of High Court comprising Chief Justice Pankaj Mithal and Justice Vinod Chatterji Koul while closing the proceedings in Public Interest Litigation regarding certain deficiencies with regard to sports facilities in the UT of Jammu and Kashmir, directed that the engagement of coaches has to be done in a transparent manner by proper advertisement inviting applications.
When the PIL came-up for hearing, the DB observed that the Court had suo moto taken action for initiation of this PIL as certain deficiencies with regard to sports facilities in Jammu & Kashmir had come to light. The DB observed that in order to improve the sports facilities several orders were passed from time to time directing the authorities to take certain steps for the improvement of infrastructure.
A perusal of the reports reveals that sincere efforts have been made for the improvement of the sports facilities in Srinagar and elsewhere, the DB observed. During the course of hearing Amicus Curiae submitted that in view of the material on record, the respondents have done a commendable job and that the infrastructure in respect of sports has improved a lot.
The DB observed that the respondents are not denying to engage proper coaches in whatever discipline of the sport as per requirement and directed that the engagement of coaches has to be done in a transparent manner by proper advertisement inviting applications and, as such, it is an ongoing exercise.
