| GDC Chenani conducts door to door cleanliness drive | | |  Early Times Report
JAMMU, Oct 25: Government Degree College, Chenani under its NSS Unit, ‘PRAYATNA’ and the cell for ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ conducted door to door awareness drives in the adopted villages of Champeri and Ghantwal on cleanliness and solid waste management. The team visited the local schools in the area and some traditional water bodies from where they picked up the garbage and educated the local community about the importance of keeping their surroundings clean and the students also made some posters and placards regarding hazards of using the single use plastic.
Dr. Pragya Khanna, Principal of the College exhorted that the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan is the most significant cleanliness campaign by the Government of India and by the participation of the public country-wide, the dream of a ‘Clean India’ once seen by Mahatma Gandhi has begun to get a shape. The event was conducted under the guidance of Sunil Kumar, NSS Program Officer. |
