Training programme on fruit, veg preservation inaugurated | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Oct 25: Director Horticulture Jammu, Ram Savak today inaugurated the “One Month Training Programme on Fruit and Vegetables Preservation” at village Suketar, Dansal, Jammu wherein more than 100 women participated. The Chief Horticulture Officer Jammu, Sarabjeet Singh welcomed the Director Horticulture Jammu and made aware the women farmers about the centrally and state sponsored schemes of the department. While addressing a large gathering of women farmers, Ram Savak urged them to come forward and avail incentives under different schemes of the department for setting up of small fruit and vegetables processing units. He asked them to form Self Help Groups (SHG’s), associate with the Horticulture department and assured that the department will help them in setting up of Micro Food Processing units under the PMFME scheme, a land mark initiative of Aatmannirbhar Bharat Abhiyan for the value addition of fruit products which will not only provide employment opportunities, but also become self reliant and can play an important role in enhancing the family income. He asked them to avail the benefits of this one month long training programme on preservation of fruits and vegetables. Earlier, during the programme, MCC Jammu, Anil Chibber provided an on spot training for the processing of fruits and vegetables to convert it into value added products such as Jam, Pickle, Preserve, Candy, Sauces, Squash, etc. Social worker Ritika Trehan also appealed to the women farmers to get themselves trained in the art of fruit & vegetables training and set up small processing units with the assistance of the department and also thanked the department for providing such training in our remote area. Among others, DLSMS (Pomo) Sandeep Gupta, Sarpanch Pyt Suketar, Kuldeep Sharma, HDOs and officials of the department were present on the occasion. |
