Elections will be held next year: Ashok Koul | | | Early Times Report
Anantnag, Nov 24: Senior BJP Leader and State General Secretary (Org.) Ashok Koul on Wednesday said that the elections in Jammu and Kashmir will be held next year. “Elections will be held after the Demolition Commission tables report. The Government of India has decided not to grant any extension to the commission so am hopeful that the commission will table the report and the election office will revise the electoral rolls in time. So I think next elections will be held in Jammu and Kashmir and BJP will perform well in both regions,” Ashok Koul told ET. He dispelled the rumors indicating that his party was attempting to interfere in the demolition exercise. “The Commission is headed by a retired Supreme Court Judge and no one can take control of the commission. The commission is working independently and will soon place its report before the government,” he added. “It is a fact that people go to elected representatives and there is a gap but then LG has a dedicated grievance cell which is working round the clock and I can point to numerous examples where the cell has actually helped people,” he said.
