Jammu, Nov 24: A mock drill exercise by the counter intelligence wing of police on Wednesday triggered panic in the winter capital. Police however, asked the people to not to fall for rumours and to stay vigilant. Earlier in the morning, there were reports about some mysterious object being found inside a bank branch in Janipura area here. The police team along with the bomb disposal squad rushed to the spot thus triggering panic among the general public of the area. The netizens circulated messages on social platforms claiming that a “bomb” had been found in the bank further aggravating the situation. Social media platforms remained flooded with messages and texts and people were seen asking each other for more details. However, as per reports, it was a ‘bomb hoax’ as a part of the mock drill exercise. Senior Superintendent of Police, Jammu, Chandan Kohli in a message said, “A CI drill was conducted in Janipur area of Jammu on Wednesday which is routine within the security setup. People are requested to refrain from rumour mongering.”
