Arrangements for observing WDD finalized in Poonch

POONCH, Nov 24: The Arrangements were finalized for observing the World Disability Day in Poonch at a meeting chaired by Deputy Commissioner, Inder Jeet, here today.
The International Day of Persons with Disabilities is observed to raise awareness about disability issues and problems faced by the affected people.
Among others, Senior Superintendent of Police, Dr. Vinod Kumar; Chief Planning Officer, Madan Lal; Principal Government College Poonch, Prof. Mussarat Hussain Shah; Assistant Commissioner Development, Rajesh Lakhan; CEO Tourism, Dr. Mohammad Tanveer; Chief Medical Officer Dr. G. A Malik; District Social Welfare Officer, Shakeel Ahmed; CDPO, Jahangir Khan; ARTO Poonch, Azar Rana; District Culture Officer, Dr. Alamdar Adam; Chairman Pir Panjal, Molana Fareed, Tehsil Social Welfare Officer, Mohammad Azam Rather, officers of education department and other concerned departments were present.
Threadbare discussions were held in the meeting, including arrangement for the various kinds of aids being provided to special abled persons, hosting of culture activities and medical and Ayush camps on the day, besides distribution of Disability cards, blankets and putting up of awareness stalls by different departments..
The Deputy Commissioner directed the Chief Medical Officer to organise special medical camp in every block for the issuance of disability cards.
It was decided in the meeting that the Culture officer will organise cultural activities on the occasion.
The meeting decided that the main function will be held on Government Degree College Campus and the college Principal was asked to make arrangements.
The Deputy Commissioner said that the observance of the Day aims to promote an understanding of disability issues and mobilize support for the dignity, rights and well-being of persons with disabilities.
He directed the concerned officers to put in added efforts and make sure that all the arrangements for holding the activities well in time.
He also directed for ensuring strict adherence to Covid 19 protocols to avoid any risk of infection.
