Police arrests 2 timber smugglers in Sopore, seizes illicit timber | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Nov 26: J&K Police on Friday arrested two alleged timber smugglers and seized illicit timber from them in north Kashmir's Sopore sub district. Police said the timber was seized from the village Fidarpora Rafiabad after they received "specific input". in this regard. “A police party from Police Station Dangiwacha along with officials of forest department under the supervision of SDPO Rafiabad raided the particular spot and seized the illicit timber from the possession of Abdul Qayoom Mir and Abdul Ahad Hajam both residents of Fidarpora Rafiabad,” the spokesman said. The duo were arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody, he added. Police has registered a case under relevant sections of law and further investigations have been set into motion. The spokesman said the drive against timber smugglers will continue to ensure protection of green gold. “Our consistent actions against anti-social elements should reassure the community members that we are making every effort to keep our society free of crime. Police has resolved to act as per law against those who indulge in criminal activities,” he added |
