Poonch admin holds workers’ registration camp

POONCH, Nov 26: District Administration Poonch today organized a special camp for awareness and registration of unorganized workers on e-SHRAM Portal here at Qila Market near the bus stand. The Camp was organized on the directions of Deputy Commissioner Inder-jeet and presided over by Additional District Development Commissioner Abdul Sattar. The event was organised in collaboration with the Beopar Mandal and transporters.
During the camp, scores of workers, including drivers, conductors, construction workers and workers associated with different shops and establishments were registered.
Assistant Labour Commissioner (ALC), Aabid Shah elaborated in detail the process and benefits of getting registered on E-sharm portal. The ALC provided detailed information to un-organised workers present on the occasion. He said that special camps are being organised for the purpose through the Common Service Centres (CSC) with active support of line departments across the district.
He said Registration on the e-SHRAM portal requires Aadhaar details, bank account number linked with Aadhar card and the eligible age limit is 18 to 59 years.
Speaking on the occasion, Additional District Development commissioner Abdul Sattar informed the participants that it is the first-ever National Database of Unorganised Workers (NDUW) created by Ministry of Labour and Employment to register the unorganized workers including migrant workers, construction workers, domestic helpers, ASHA and Anganwadi workers, Street vendors, Rickshaw pullers, Farmers, Agricultural labourers, Animal husbandry workers, Barbers, Weavers, Carpenters, Brick kiln, Quarry workers, Saw mill workers, Vegetable and Fruit vendors, Newspapers vendors, Auto drivers, Sericulture workers, housemaids and other such workers to extend them benefits of the Government schemes.
On the occasion, the ADDC further informed that till date more than 33000 unorganized workers have been registered in Poonch District and further registrations are going on.
He solicited the support of civil society and social activists and media persons for mobilizing the workers to nearest common service centers.
