JAMMU, Dec 13: A “National Level Open House Discussion on National Mission on Mentoring” was conducted by National Council for Teacher Education, New Delhi in collaboration with SCERT J&K today. The programme was organised in hybrid mode. 25 participants joined in-person and around 140 participants (from SCERT & JKBOSE) joined online, 75 from Jammu Division, 48 from Kashmir division and 20 from the UT of Ladakh. The participants constituted the faculty from DIETs, field functionaries, HOIs, ZEOs, faculty from SCERT J&K and faculty from JKBOSE. National Council for Teacher Education, New Delhi has designed a mentoring mission for teachers & school leaders. A draft document on NMM titled as “Blue Book on Mentoring” has been developed as a set of guidelines towards creation of a document and platform for National Mission for Mentoring. The programme was inaugurated by Prof. Veena Pandita, Director SCERT J&K. In her welcome address, she emphasized that since its inception, SCERT J&K has been continuously aiming to achieve the goals of enhancing the capabilities of teachers in education sector. The keynote address was presented by B K Singh, Principal Secretary, School Education Department, who emphasized upon the new roles of School Education Deptt. as recommended in NEP-2020 and termed the National Mission on Mentoring a significant step in this regard. The agenda of the meeting was set by Kesang Y. Sherpa, Member Secretary, NCTE. A brief introduction of Blue Book on NMM was given by Prof. Sharad Sinha, NMM Committee, member, who threw light on the main ideas of Mission on Mentoring and discussed the Blue book in detail. |
