Early Times Report

Anantnag, Dec 13: In a surprising move, the J&K administration on Monday transferred a Junior KAS officer who was fighting touts and trying to ensure transparency in central sponsored schemes.
KAS officer Mir Mudasir Gull was posted as Block Development Officer Verinag this September 15 this year. The officer has now been posted as BDO Shangus.
Few weeks after assuming charge, BDO Verinag was spotted addressing a Gram Sabha in a village falling under his jurisdiction.
“All those who have constructed house will not get it again. No influence will work. Those who don’t have house will get it,” the KAS officer told the people who had gathered to get benefited under Prime Minister’s Housing Scheme (PMAY).
The officer told the gathering that don’t pay bribes to agents, employees and PRI members who are telling that they will get your names included in the list.
“If anyone comes to you and demands money,be it my employee, any agent or Sarpanch inform me and I will get them booked,” the officer is heard saying in the video which is still available on social media sites.
The officer told gathering that houses under the scheme will be allotted after proper verification.
However, these comments didn’t go well with District Development Council Member (DDC) Peer Shahbaz.“I came through this video which Sarpanch Bashir Ahmad had shared. Watch this video carefully and try to understand. In this video, BDO is saying that if any Sarpanch is demanding money I will get them booked. He has defamed PRI members. If he repeats then we will demand proofs from him,” DDC Member Peer Shabaz said in a audio message, saying he will see what comes out from the civil secretariat.
He also threatened to drag BDO in Court over ‘unfounded allegations.’
“He has done a mistake and he will get the punishment,” he adds.
The audio clip was shared widely on the same day when BDO alerted people about possible touting.
DDC Member Peer Shahbaz however this evening denied to have filed any compliant against the officer. “No, I didn’t file any complaint against the officer. There was some confusion earlier but now the officer was doing good work,” he said.
On Facebook, however Peer Shahbaz named social media handle celebrated officer’s transfer. “Finally people of Shahbad Bala won. BDO Verinag transferred,” Socail media user wrote, however netziens commented against it and claimed that the officer was ‘epitome of honest’.
“One of the best officer got transferred, really bad news for Shahbad,” one of the user wrote.
KAS officer Mir Mudasir Gull told ET he had some friction with few PRI members over the comments he made in Gram Saba meeting. “I am being told that I was transferred over some compliant but I don’t know who has filed it and what is the compliant,” he said.
