GDC Darhal organizes extension lecture on tourism scope | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 13: An extension lecture on “Tourism in Jammu and Kashmir with special reference to the Scope in Pir Panjal region” was organized by Department of Political Science Govt. Degree College Darhal. Resource person Dr. Altaf Ahmad Kumar Ph.D. in Economics from Central University of Kashmir talked about tourism in J&K with special emphasis on exploring Pir Panjal range. He said that tourism is considered as a major tool for economic growth and development. He said that Jammu And Kashmir State has a special status among the important tourist destinations of the world. He told that Pir Panjal range is known for its beautiful fresh water lakes (called Sar) and huge green Meadows (called Margs). He told that the lack of basic facilities such as Road connectivity, power supply, Mobile & Internet connectivity etc. and non-availability of modern technology act as the main hindrance for growthof tourism in the area. Principal of the college Prof. Sumanesh Jasrotia thanked the resource person for an impressive lecture with special emphasis on Pir Panjal range. He said that department of Higher Education has already provided opportunities to degree colleges to start skill enhancement course in tourism. Senior Faculty member Dr Imtiaz Hussain said that there is more scope of tourism in Darhal and surrounding areas as the higher reaches are beautiful places with so many lakes in the area. Finally vote of thanks was presented by HOD Political Science Dr. Javaid Ahmad Mir. He thanked the resource person for highly informative talk. He said that the students of all the three classes Sem-I, Sem-III and Sem-V were enlightened on the theme “Tourism” which is related with their syllabus. Others present on the occasion were Prof Tahir Mahmood, Dr. Riaz, Dr. Mukhtiar, Mawish, Farzana, Qayoom, Avez, Safeer and Saddam.
