2-day Kalarippayattu coaching camp, seminar ends

Jammu, Dec 13: Two day Kalarippayattu coaching camp/seminar organized by Kalarippayattu Association of Jammu & Kashmir in collaboration with IDPS Jammu and supported by Indian Kalarippayattu Federation concluded on Monday, a statement said.
It said the camp was inaugurated by Secretary Sports Council Jammu Nuzhat Gull, the other dignitaries present were Rahul Sahai (Chairman Phd Chamber of Commerce and industry) as special guest, Advocate Poonthura Soman - Secretary General of Indian Kalarippayattu Federation.
Around 120 students from all over J&K UT took part in the camp. The closing ceremony was attended by Adv Poonthura Soman - Secretary General , Indian Kalarippayattu Federation as Supervisor and Specially Invited Guest , Sree Jayan Gurukal - IKF Member , Advaith P Soman - Kalari Coach from Kerala , Chief Guest - R S Chib - Former Sports Minister of J&K. Guest of Honours - Shuja Zaffar - President - Tennis Volleyball Association of J&K , Vijay Saraf - President- Wushu Association of J&K , Arun Khanna - Councillor Ward No. 25 , Prem Sharma - Vice President - Sports & Culture Welfare Assocition J&K . Special Guests - Sohail Kazmi - Sr Journalist, Sunil Kumar Sawhney Vice President Tennis Volleyball Association of J&K and the Members of the Kalarippayattu Association of J&K & staff of International Delhi Public School were also present there. S M Bali - Hony. President of the J&K Kalarippayattu Association , Gul-E-Surkhab - Sr. Vice President, Danish Sharma - General Secretary , Navneet Gupta - Joint Secretary, Harsh Vardhan Raina - Member , Tarsem Sharma - Founder Member Kalarippayattu J&K Arshad Aziz - Member , Shabir Ahmad – Member. Suminder Singh - MD IDP School , Madhu Abrol - School Manager , Randeep Wazir - School Principal were also present in the closing ceremony.
During the camp, 10 Kalarippayattu athletes from J&K selected for Khelo India Youth Games in the month of February 2022 at Haryana.
Secretary General - Indian Kalarippayattu Federation announced that Kalarippayattu Academy shall be formed in Jammu for the promotion and future development of Kalarippayattu and also appealed to the J&K Govt to introduce Kalarippayattu in the syllabus of sports curriculum in schools.
The camp was so successful to select competent students for the above mention Khelo India Youth Games and also well appreciated the state level organisers - Tarsem Sharma and Danish Sharma for the efficient coordination of the camp.
