POJK Sharnarthis urge delimitation panel to reserve assembly seats | | | Jammu, Dec 13: All J&K 1947, POJK Sharnarthi Intellectual Forum, has urged the Delimitation Panel to allocate and reserve at least 10 Assembly and one Parliament seat for the people forcibly displaced from occupied J&K since 1947 where they have left their moveable and immovable properties. In a statement the Forum said that a meeting under the presidentship of Advocate Amrik Singh and joined by S Surjit Singh Secretary of Forum. “Participants regretted that a nearly 15 lakh POJK Sharnarthees are living without their representation in either house of J&K. Giving representation to the Kashmiri Pandit community is a healthy step and is appreciable but the people who laid down their lives fighting Pakistan army and more than 40000 people were martyred have been ignored,” the statement added. “We are the saviors of the J&K state and are still struggling for our democratic rights especially the Sikhs who are deprived from representation because of their scattered settlement in campus. Before partition of J&K state there were two assembly seats reserved for Sikhs in Maharaja’s rule and this practice was carried out upto 1964 but later on this practice was abandoned without assigning any reason,” it said. |
