KATHUA, Dec 20: Department of Computer Applications Government Degree College (GDC) Kathua (Boys) organized a seminar on cyber crime awareness under the series of “Cyber Jaagrookta (Awareness) Diwas”, to strengthen the cyber security for the prevention of cyber crime. The program was held under the patronage of worthy Principal Prof. Raj Kiran. She applauded the Ministry of Home Affairs and Higher Education Department J&K for implementing the scheme called “Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (14C)” to deal with cyber crime in a coordinated and comprehensive manner. She laid emphasis on such awareness programmes on cyber security and since the internet is widely used by the people in their day to day lives, it is necessary to spread awareness among the students for safe and secure use of these platforms. Prof. Deepak Gupta, Assistant Professor, GDC Marheen, was the keynote speaker. In his talk he deliberated about Cyber crime, Kinds of Cyber Crime, Phishing, Identity theft, Cyber Stacking, cyber crime information, cyber bullying, cyber stalking, cyber rights, etc. The session was very interactive and both faculty and students actively participated and got awareness about cyber crime and security. The Seminar was attended by more than 100 participants. The collating of the event was done by Prof. Surbhi Gupta. Prof. Rahul Sharma concluded the programme by delivering the formal vote of thanks. The event was organized by the committee constituted for Cyber Jaagrokta (Awareness) Diwas, Prof. Rahul Sharma (Convener), Prof. Anoop Sharma (Organising Secretary), Coordinators viz. Prof. Shiv Kumar, Prof. Surbhi Gupta, Prof. Bharat, Prof. Virender Singh, Prof. Manmohan Singh and Prof. Adeeti. The seminar was also attended by College faculty members including Prof. Jasvinder Singh, Prof. Rachna, Prof. Chetna, Prof. Jagdish, Prof. Kamaldeep Singh, Prof. Sudan and Prof. Surya Partap Singh. |
