Gurmeet expresses concern over JMC's challan drive | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 24: General Secretary District Congress Committee Jammu (Urban) and President Beopar Mandal, Gurmeet Singh has expressed serious concern over the challan drive of JMC and said that poor people are being harassed through this drive. In a statement issued here today, Gurmeet Singh said that poor people who earn their livelihood by means of domestic labour like cleaning of utensils, washing clothes and live in jhuggis, have nothing to throw outside their living shelters. Moreover there are no proper drains and lanes in the localities. Whatever lanes exists are in dilapidated condition. The JMC inspectors are busy in putting challans against these poor people and when they approach to the JMC Judiciary Dept, they are being stopped on the gate on the pretext that they are not fully vaccinated and they should Singh said that it looks very strange that one who cannot pay challan, how he will hire a lawyer for pleading his case and these poor people are being compelled to grease the hands of inspectors by paying Rs 400 and obtain receipt of Rs 100 only.
