Early Times Report

Sunderbani, Dec 23: Two ‘influential’ teachers of the Education Department in Lorhattal zone of Sunderbani Tehsil, are allegedly enjoying their attachment in Jammu despite repeated detachment orders by the government.
According to sources, two teachers originally posted at Barnada and Sia of Tehsil Sunderbani have allegedly never joined their place of posting, but rather are enjoying attachment in Jammu.
“Government has time and again issued circulars and orders, asking head of the departments to discourage attachment of teachers by retracting employees to their original place of posting,” said sources, adding that despite such orders, these two influential teachers are apparently defiant to the government.
Sources said that one of the teachers is posted at Government High School Barnada and another one is posted at Government Primary School Sia. “These two teachers got themselves attached to Jammu district, instead of serving in their original place of posting,” said sources, adding that even the Zonal Education Officer (ZEO) is apprehensive about taking any action against the duo.
When locals approached incharge ZEO about the matter, they were told that he is not in a position to take action against the teachers.
“When we approached the incharge ZEO, he said that he can only take action against the teachers if government issues any specific order against them,” said sources, quoting the locals, adding that the locals further said that incharge ZEO has shrugged off the responsibility, as he is the immediate head of the teachers and it is his responsibility to monitor the performance of the teachers and take appropriate action against them, including stopping their salaries.
When contacted incharge ZEO, Ramesh Chandra Sharma, he said that he cannot do anything without government intervention.
Despite repeated attempts, Early Times was not able to contact the teachers.
Meanwhile, locals of the area urged Lieutenant Governor’s administration and Education Department to clarify for what purpose these two teachers have been attached in Jammu since a long time, despite the fact that they are more needed in this Tehsil.
