GDC Sidhra organizes cleanliness drive | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Dec 24: NSS Unit and ECO-Club of GDC Sidhra organized cleanliness drive implementing “Clean India Program” under the banner of “Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav”. The activity under this drive included the visit to Tawi River Banks in the vicinity to clean its banks and surroundings. About 60 NSS volunteers participated in this special activity of Cleanliness. The main motive behind this drive was to spread awareness related to cleanliness and rejuvenation of rivers and water bodies that is one of the objectives of Clean India program. This drive was a wonderful experience for students to motivate them to contribute their bit to society and they are major role players to raise awareness on the importance of cleanliness in one’s vicinity and neighbourhood. Under the clean India drive, the volunteers also cleaned the ground near Tawi River by picking up plastic items like wrappers, plastic bottles, polybags etc. NSS Volunteers participated in the cleanliness drive with full enthusiasm. The program was organized by Dr. Mehmood Ahmed, NSS Program Officer, Dr. Anshu Gupta, Convener and Prof. Deepa Kak, Co-convener ECO Club of the college. The program was successful with the coordination of Prof. Meesha Bhagat and Dr. Satbir Kour, members NSS Unit, GDC Sidhra. Principal of the college, Dr. Monika Sharma, congratulated all for the success of the drive and appreciated the volunteers for their diligent efforts.
