| KVK Reasi trains farm women on value addition in seasonal fruits | | |  Early Times Report
REASI, Dec 26: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasi under the aegis of Directorate of Extension, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu imparted vocational training on "Value addition in seasonal fruits for rural development" here at Malad village of Pouni block in Reasi district of J&K under Attracting and Retaining Youths in Agriculture (ARYA) project. The programme was attended by a number of young women farmers of the area. Various online and offline sessions were organized during the programme. The programme was organized under the guidance of Vice Chancellor, Prof JP Sharma and Director Extension, Prof SK Gupta of SKUAST-Jammu.
Dr Banarsi Lal, Scientist & Head of KVK, Reasi highlighted the importance of fruit processing and motivated farm women on value addition in various seasonal fruits available in the area. He said that aonla candy, juice, sauce etc. have immense scope in the market and farm women should produce the commercial level of these commodities to enhance their income and employment. Dr Sheetal Badyal, Scientist, KVK, RS Pura, Jammu guided the farm women on quality aonla candy, organic juice, pickles, sauce making etc. through virtual mode. She encouraged the farm women of hilly areas for their endevours on seasonal fruits processing.
Dr Suja Nabi Qureshi, Scientist demonstrated the scientific techniques of aonla candy, juice and pickles making.
During the programme awardee farm women of KVK, Reasi, Bimla Devi and Anita Devi were also present who also shared their valuable experiences on value addition of seasonal fruits with the other farm women of the area. During this programme, participants asked various quarries which were answered by the KVK scientists in a satisfactorily way. The programme was assisted by Manohar Lal and formal vote of thanks was proposed by Dr Banarsi Lal. |
