Recruitment of SIs in J&K Police takes new twist, CAT grants relief to 174 candidates | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Dec 26: The process of appointment of Sub-Inspectors in the Jammu & Kashmir Police has taken a new twist as more than 170 candidates have been given relief by Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) after they had pleaded to seek relaxation in the upper age limit. The CAT had directed the Home Department to allow 174 candidates to appear in the examination for the SI posts in the Jammu & Kashmir Police. The directions were issued by the Tribunal after the candidates approached it for granting relaxation so that they can appear in the examination. The process of recruitment had come in for criticism after the Home Department had fixed the age limit for the posts in the range of 18-28 years. Since the minimum qualification was set as graduation one was forced to laugh at the process as there would be nobody in Jammu & Kashmir who would complete the graduation at the age of 18 years. Since more aspirants have approached the CAT it remains to be seen what would be the response of the Tribunal towards the same. If relief is given to some more candidates the Home Department would cut a sorry figure. The Home Department has increased the upper age limit to 30 years even though the candidates demanded the same to be fixed as 32 years. |
