Normalcy claims punctured again, 2 cops injured in grenade attack at Pulwama | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Dec 26: Despite the government making tall claims about the situation in Kashmir returning to normal, militants are striking at will. On Sunday two policemen were injured in a grenade attack in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district. The grenade was lobbed at around 3 pm towards a joint deployment of Police and Central Reserve Police Force near the post office area of Washbug Pulwama." Two police personnel got splinter injuries and were shifted to nearby hospital for the treatment of their injuries," a police spokesman said. He said that soon after the incident, joint forces cordoned the area and a search operation was launched to nab the culprits. An observer while talking to Early Times said, “People who are issuing statements about normalcy returning to Kashmir seem to be unaware about the ground realities. Terrorists are killing people. They are throwing grenades and are targeting whomever they want.” He said, “When policemen are not safe, how can one say that common civilians and the members of minority communities are safe. Situation in Kashmir is grim and far from normal.” He said, “Rather than issuing statements the helmsmen should focus on the ground situation. Tourists visiting the Valley doesn’t mean that normalcy has returned.” |
