Virat Kohli returns to nets as India begin preparation for Cape Town Test | | | agencies CAPE TOWN, Jan 9: India captain Virat Kohli on Sunday returned to the nets as India began preparations for the 3rd Test with their first training session at the Newlands in Cape Town. Overseen by head coach Rahul Dravid India hit the nets for the first time after arriving in Cape Town on Saturday. Virat Kohli is likely to return to the XI for the 3rd Test after missing the 2nd Test in Johannesburg due to a back spasm. India were led by KL Rahul in the absence of Kohli, but India went on to lose the Test by 7 wickets unable to defend 240 runs on the final day. Virat Kohli was looking focused at the nets as he was spotted playing some of his trademark cover drives. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) shared photos of India's training session from the Newlands on Sunday. Notably, head coach Rahul Dravid said Virat Kohli should be fine after a couple of training sessions in Cape Town after the completion of the Johannesburg Test. "Virat Kohli should be fine from all accounts, he should be fine. He has had the opportunity to run around a little bit, he has had the opportunity to test it a little bit," Dravid had said after the 2nd Test. |
