Early Times Report JAMMU, Jan 18: Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-Jammu Prof. J.P. Sharma today reviewed the crop varieties that are ready for release by SKUAST-Jammu. Prof. Pardeep Wali, Director Research, welcomed all the participants and apprised the house that eleven varieties are ready for being proposed by different teams of scientists of SKUAST-J for release. Powerpoint presentations of the ready to release crop varieties were delivered during the meeting in the Conference Hall of the Vice Chancellor's Secretariat by the concerned scientists before the Director Research, Head of the Divisions and the Research Evaluation Committee members of the University. Thread ware discussions were held during the meeting on eleven crop varieties including Wheat (JAUW672), Maize (maize popcorn SJPC01), Mustard (JM 13-5), Gobhi Sarson (JGS 12-3), Moong (JAUM 0936, Rajmash (BR-39), Walnut (JWSP-06), Guava (red flush) and Kagzi Lime (Sel 1001). Vice Chancellor, Prof. Sharma praised the efforts done by the scientists for developing new varieties and asked them for their further refinement and dissemination of the plant material and technologies by involving KVKs, field functionaries and farmers at different locations, wherever required. Bhadwal, Dean (Faculty of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry), Dr. S.E.H. Rizvi, Dean (Faculty of Basic Sciences), Dr. Shahid Ahamad (ADR & Nodal Officer, PME Cell), Dr. B.C. Sharma (Prof. & Head, Division of Agronomy) and Dr. Amit Jasrotia (Assoc. Professor & Head, Division of Fruit Science) also participated in the meeting.
