CUJ forcing Covid positive students to appear in exams | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 18: Cluster University Jammu not postponing the ongoing offline exams triggered protests in the varsity campus on Tuesday as one of the Covid positive students arrived in an ambulance to appear for the paper. The students led by Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) assembled in the campus and raised slogans against the Controller Examination. They accused him of turning a blind eye towards the plight of students who have tested positive during the ongoing third Covid wave. “The university administration is not showing any sympathy towards the students who have tested positive. If the varsity cannot postpone the exams then at least it should conduct the exams of positive students after they recover,” students said. They said, “The indifferent attitude of the university administration and the higher-ups is putting the lives of students at stake. We want to ask the administration that if anything untoward happens who will own the responsibility?” Protesters said that pleas of the father of the Covid positive student to either hold the examination online or later fell flat on deaf ears. "The student, who came in an ambulance to appear for an exam had tested positive on Saturday following which she isolated herself and took the necessary precautions. The father of the student rang up the higher ups of the university with the plea that his daughter is COVID positive and the examination of the final paper be held online or later. The university authorities did not listen and told him that in case a student did not appear in the examination her one year would be wasted. Following this the student had no option but to appear in the examination. This is sheer negligence and cannot be tolerated," protester said. |
