EARLY TIMES REPORT

KATHUA, Jan 18: Col Mahan Singh (Retd.), DDC Chairman Kathua today went around Basohli DDC Constituency to listen problems of the people of far-flung areas like Kharmait, Meyali, Khalifa, Nakki, Jankher and Bughain.
DDC Chairman was accompanied by Sushma Jamwal, BDC Chairman Basohli, Ashwani Kumar DFO Basohli, Maya Devi Sarpanch Pretha, Kewal Kumar Sarpanch Jankher, Ajeet Singh Kissan Morcha leader & others.
Most of these hamlets are co-located to forest and hence time and again there have been issues while constructing roads, lanes and others developmental projects.
The DDC Chairman said that joint meetings with DFO and forest officials will resolve many such issues. He asserted that these areas need road connectivity and development to the most as the residents are deprived of basic necessity like drinking water, electricity, healthcare services, schooling etc.
Col Mahan Singh said that the development of Basohli Assembly Constituency couldn’t take place owing to poor road infrastructure in rural areas as the outside leaders representing this Constituency segment were only interested in earth works to fill their coffers. Even not a single good road has been constructed over the years in the region, he added.
The DDC Chairman also visited Jankher and inspected ongoing work of PWD road in the area. He also addressed multiple Nukked Sabhas enroute and explained various government schemes to them and urged the residents to take benefit of the same.
Col Mahan said that people-centric schemes have been crafted for the public welfare but the hindrances created by the delinquent officials at times create difficulty in reaching out to the deserving population.
He laid stress upon the officials of various departments to ensure that no genuine beneficiary should be denied the benefits of the public welfare schemes. He said that BJP Government led by PM Narendra Modi has come up with numerous schemes and policies to uplift the deserving segments of the society and people should also come forward to avail the benefits of these schemes.
