EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Jan 18: NSS unit of GGM Science College under the patronage of Principal Dr. Ravender Tickoo and guidance of NSS PO Dr. Deepali Mahajan organized a two-day long workshop “Best Out of Waste” under Clean India campaign. Best out of waste simply means to make or to bring out something innovative and attractive thing from the material we do not use anymore, which we call waste. It is so simple process to Reuse, Recycle and Reduce. Little efforts and imaginations came together in a creative burst of energy during the covid-19 pandemic focusing on bringing an understanding among the youth about preserving the environment by reusing and recycling waste material. Waste has to be looked upon as a global issue as it concerns proper sanitation. When we take any scrap material that looks like it could go in the dustbin, and creates a whole new product or object out of it, it is called recycling. Recycling is an incredibly vital practice that we all must learn to follow. NSS Volunteers Prerna, Muskan, Madhurya, Palvinder, Shabana, Mohd. Ali, Reetik, Mohit, Sonal, Sia, Sargam, Sunandini, Simran, Irfan, Pallvi and Neeru made beautiful items from the used discarded things like pens, bangles, carboard, container, tissue papers, thermocol, plastic bottles, matchsticks, ropes, matchboxes, ice cream sticks, broken mirror, glass, wool, etc on the first day. The volunteers beautifully explained the work done by them in this workshop on the second day displaying their decorative items. NSS PO appreciated the efforts by the volunteers. The workshop ended with the pledge “Think before you trash it. Don’t trash our future-recycle”. |
