Jammu, Jan 23: The demolition drive carried out by the administration in Roop Nagar area here 13-days ago has triggered massive resentment among the Gujjar community.
They have been sitting on dharna demanding that their rights be restored to them. “We have been living here prior to 1947 and were allowed by all the regimes to exist peacefully. But the present dispensation has displaced us. For the past 13-days we have been sitting on dharna, no one from the administration has come forward to know what we are facing. The officials have turned their backs towards us and seem least bothered about our plight,” they said. “We appeal to the LG administration to return our land and if it fails to do so we will turn our agitation into a J&K wide stir like farmers protest,” they added. |
