J&K Govt fails to regularize NHM workers | Haryana, Rajasthan, Mizoram, Andhra Pradesh, Manipur absorb employees; acknowledge their contribution in Covid | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 23: Hundreds of doctors and paramedics employed through National Health Mission in Jammu and Kashmir are awaiting regularization for the past many years. According to the details available with Early Times, Haryana, Rajasthan, Mizoram, Andhra Pradesh and Manipur have taken a lead in regularizing the NHM employees. “After J&K’s transition into a Union Territory the government had claimed that whatever is applicable in other States and UTs will be applicable in J&K also. But these claims have remained confined to papers only,” said an observer. He said that in the year 2017-18 when the NHM employees hit the streets, the government had ordered the setting up of two committees to address the genuine demands of these contractual workers. But till date no one knows whether the committees did submit their report or not. “The NHM workers in Himachal Pradesh and Punjab have been locking the horns with the government to seek their regularization. Similar situation can arise in J&K if the government keeps on ignoring the demands of these health workers, who have put their lives at stake to fight the pandemic,” he added. |
