Government should focus on development of rural areas: Javed Rana | | | EARLY tIMES REPORT
MENDHAR, Feb 2: Senior NC leader and former MLA Mendhar Javed Rana today said that the UT government headed by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha should focus on development of rural areas as people are facing numerous hardships in the absence of basic facilities. Addressing a press conference Rana said that people of rural areas are facing difficulties in their day to day life in the absence of basic facilities like water, un-interrupted power supply besides better road connectivity. He said that people of Mendhar sub-division in particular are facing basic development issues and problems but the UT government is seen to have not taking any appropriate steps towards adressing the issues of people of Mendhar sub-division. He lashed out at the Jal-Shakti department for not reaching out at the doorsteps of Mendhar villages. He said that several Jal-Shakti water supply schemes are lying defunct and the department has failed to makes these schemes fully functional. He said that despite spending crores on these water schemes these are still non-functional. Rana said that if funds are available then why not works is being carried out on those languishing projects/schemes such as NABARD and PMGSY roads, water lift schemes which are lying incomplete. He asked Deputy Commissioner Poonch to chalk out a detail development strategy plan to address these issues on priority at the earliest. Rana said that works on mini-secretariat Mendhar, Ek Lavya model residential school and other development projects abandoned for the last few years which needs attention.
