| GDC Basohli organizes poster making competition | | |

BASOHLI, Feb 2: GDC Basohli organized an online poster making competition to commemorate the “World Wetlands Day”. The theme of the competition was "Wetlands Action for People and Nature" under the aegis of Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav. The event was organized under the patronage of worthy Principal, Dr. Nidhi Kotwal. In her inaugural address she talked about importance of wetlands in sustaining biodiversity and preservation of nature. Prof. Sanjeev Kumar Gupta, Head of Botany Department briefed the students about the significance of wetlands with special reference to the Ramsar sites of Jammu & Kashmir. A total of thirty college students participated in the online competition. The event was judged by Prof. Pawan Kumar, Dr. Shiv Mangal and Sajad Ahmad Dar. Among all the participants Neha Thakur of Semester-III secured first position, Monika Thakur of Semester-III secured second position and Tahira Akhtar of Semester-V stood third. Sajad Ahmad Dar Lecturer in Environmental Sciences reiterated the importance of conservation of wetlands and also appreciated the efforts of the students who took part in the activity.
