GDC Ramnagar observes World Wetlands Day | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
RAMNAGAR, Feb 2: Department of Zoology, Govt. Degree College, Ramnagar celebrated World Wetlands Day today. This day is celebrated to mark the adoption of the Ramsar Convention for the conservation of wetlands and raising global awareness around their importance both for humans and the environment. On this occasion, an online Quiz and debate competition on the theme "Wetlands Action for People and Nature" was organized in which more than ninety students of the college participated through online platform. In debate competition Sunidhi Mahajan bagged first position whereas Neha Thakur and Suhani Gupta shared 2nd prize and Ritu Thakur bagged 3rd position respectively. The consolation prize was shared by Bandhana Devi and Vidhushi Dhiman. E-certificates and cash prizes were distributed among the winner in the competition. Dr. Udhey Bhanu, Principal, was chief guest on the occasion, in his address he underlined the importance of Wetlands and their conservation for safeguarding life connected with them. Prof. Brinder Kumar (Convener) of the programme gave an overview of the status of wetland in India. The programme was coordinated by Dr. Hari Singh (Co-convener) and Prof. Aditya Sharma (Member). The programme ended with vote of thanks presented by Prof. Suresh Kumar Dogra (Senior Faculty member). Other faculty members of the college also attended the event through online platform. |
