Yet again nothing for KPs in union budget | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 2: Though the people of Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory have evoked a mixed response to the union budget for 2022-23 which was presented in the Parliament on February 1,by the Union Finance Minister,Nirmala Sitharaman yet again the exiled Kashmiri Pandit migrants see nothing for themselves in the budget. Taking a dig at the indifferent attitude of the Government of India some senior most members of KP community said they have been living in exile since decades but all the governments have failed to respect their wishes, aspirations and pleas which they have been keeping before them at relevant foras time and time again, they maintained. Expressing his resentment over the budget social activist Sunil Pandita lambasted that Kashmiri Pandit community has been taken for a ride by all the governments as well as political parties who while in power never have touched the issue of the hapless community which has been living a life of migrants in their own state over decades. Sunil said we people too are citizens of India and need equal share of development but more than 32 years have passed now we are languishing still in camps only without any thing in hand and the future of our community seems to be very bleak. It is because of lack of policies and planning, indifferent and pathetic approach adopted by the government at centre towards Kashmiri Pandit migrants as well as the administration of Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory . We are surprised to learn that there is no mention in the budget regarding our Rehabilitation, employment package, return to our homes and hearths or other burning issues which the community families were confronting on in day today life ,Sunil said, adding Kashmiri Pandits have been pinning high hopes in the BJP government at the centre since 2014 but all their dreams seems to have been shattered at this point of time when they came to know that no issue of theirs have been touched in the budget. What to say about anything else even relief holders monthly relief has not been enhanced for which they have been protesting for over a year's time now, Sunil Pandita further added.
