Hang Attackers
2/3/2022 12:12:27 AM

The heinous acid attack on a 24-year old girl in Srinagar has sent shock waves across Jammu and Kashmir. People are demanding that the attackers should be given capital punishment so that it serves as a deterrent for others.
On Tuesday scores of people staged a protest in Srinagar to express outrage against the incident and expressed dismay over the increasing crime rate in the society.
Police have claimed that the three accused have been arrested and the victim was attacked because she had rejected the engagement proposal of the accused. It’s really unfortunate that a poor girl became a victim of a sycophancy of a person, whose ego was hit and had a criminal intent.
The acid attack on poor girl is an indication of falling moral standards of the society. The youth need to be taught what’s right and wrong. The moral education needs to be given to children from a young age. They need to learn from the very beginning that they have to respect the women folk. Throwing acid on women is an uncivilized attack and needs to be condemned in the strongest possible way.
Another thing which needs to be investigated is how come accused acquired the acid as there is a Supreme Court judgment about sale of acid. If the guidelines of the sale of acid have been violated, the people responsible for providing it to the accused should be booked and dealt according to the law.
The society needs to wake up before it becomes too late. The awareness needs to be created among youth that they have to stay away from such crimes.
The acid attack victims are the worst sufferers as they live their life in distress and with stigma. The attackers ruin lives of victims and such people and need to be given an exemplary punishment so that no one dares to even think about committing such an act.
It’s the responsibility of the entire society to put in a collective effort to tell the youth that if they don’t follow the norms and laws of the land they can end up spending their lives behind the bars.
