All Jammu Hotels, Lodges Association demand package for tourism industry | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 5: In the meeting of office bearers of All Jammu Hotels and Lodges Association held today, the chairman Inderjeet Khajuria hailed the J&K administration decision of waiving off/exemption of fifty percent of passenger tax chargeable on various vehicles between 1st April 2020 and 31st March, 2021. Khajuria said that decision would definitely give relief to the operators of commercial transport who had suffered huge losses on account of COVID-19 induced nation-wide lockdowns and restrictions leading to non- operation of the public transport. Pawan Gupta, President of the Association said that tourism sector is worst sufferer of COVID pandemic and lockdowns and is completely finished by bearing the brunt of same and needs support from the government. The Association has appealed the administration to come to the rescue of tourism fraternity, viz., hoteliers and dhaba-wallas, travel agents, dealers of shawls and dry fruits and particularly budget hoteliers as all of them have great expectations from the government. Gupta said that government should do away with the imposition of weekend lockdowns as there is a sharp decline in corona cases and this step would certainly give a boost to the business activities especially the tourism trade. |
