Crores spent on construction of musical fountain at Bagh-e-Bahu but admin ignores dilapidated condition of lanes, drains at Kacha Tallab | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 14: Although crores of rupees were spent on construction of musical fountain at Bagh-e-Bahu and inaugurated with much fanfare by Lieutenant Governor MK Sinha but administration failed to have look on the adjoining Kacha Tallab area which has been lying with dilapidated roads, lanes and drains. The residents strongly criticised the concerned department for not giving heed to the problems of the area. “The lanes and drains were constructed nearly 15 years ago in this area but till date nothing has been done to repair them due to which vehicles can’t be entered due to its dilapidated condition. It becomes difficult to pass through this stretch in the nigh hours,” said Neelam Kumari, local resident while criticising the government for spending money on fountain and forgetting the deplorable condition of their area. She further said except for empty assurances by the local leaders, nothing has been done till date to mitigate the problems of local residents. Other residents were also of the same view and said that it would have been better that funds should have been spent first on these area for their development and then for construction of musical fountain. “There is a temple along the street in this area but due to dilapidated condition of road, we cannot offers our prayers” they alleged. |
