Arrogant babus spoiling Centre’s development agenda in J&K, allege contractors | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 17: Issues raised by the agitating contractors have substantiated that a coterie of arrogant Babus is hell-bent to spoil the Union Government’s developmental agenda for the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. Instead of releasing funds for developmental activities, some Babus are more concerned over their own luxuries at the cost of the common masses. Quoting general secretary of the Central Contractors Coordination Committee Farooq Ahmad Dar, a Kashmir based news agency reported that at present, the government has a debt of Rs 685 crore, and no efforts are being made to release it “It is not a sin to ask for money owed, and contractors have the right to demand it. Black laws are being imposed on the contractors, which has not only slowed down the pace of development work but has become a tool to ruin the contractor”, he alleged. Contractors regretted that officers were delaying the release of funds just only to derail developmental activities in Jammu “Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha is in favour of development and construction in Jammu and Kashmir, but the bureaucrats are thwarting his program”, Dar alleged. Dar warned the government that if their problems were not resolved, they had no choice but to boycott the construction work. He said that some bureaucrats were obstructing the construction work. |
