Jammu, Feb 17: A prominent social activist of Bhaderwah and chairman of Youth Action Committee, Naseer Mehboob, on Thursday revealed that out of 37 posts for doctors around 32 are vacant and people are suffering. Talking to a local news channel Straight Line, Mehboob said, “There is a big building in the name of hospital. Even the machines are there but there are no doctors. In Bhaderwah hospital only five doctors have been posted while there are thirty seven vacancies for the doctors.” He said, “To get a simple ultrasound done our mothers and sisters have to travel to Jammu which is around 200 kms from Bhaderwah. Even after 75-years of independence the people of Bhaderwah haven’t be provided with the basic health care facilities.” He said, “There is ultrasound machine, CT scan machine in the hospital but there are no doctors.” He said that they had to stage a protest for six months to get a gynecologist posted at Bhaderwah hospital. “Patients from Bhaderwah are even referred from Doda Government Medical College to Jammu as there are no faci > For ultrasound people have to travel 200 kms >Even appendix surgery not done >Poor have become poorer >Politicians misled people by calling Baderwah Chota Kashmir ities even there. Claims of hospitals and medical colleges are confined to papers only,” Mehboob added. He said, “Even for appendix operation a person has to come to Jammu. Instead of our region moving ahead it has turned backward.” Mehboob said that there is nothing on the ground. “People who praise Ghulam Nabi Azad do it for their own benefit. Situation has turned from bad to worse. Poor have turned poorer and in absence of basic facilities they are facing a lot of hardships,” he added. Mehboob said that he recently met Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and presented a memorandum to him. “LG Sahib assured me that the genuine grievances of the people will be addressed on priority.” He said, “Politicians during all these years have played politics with the people of Bhaderwah by sometimes equating it with Switzerland and at times terming it as Chota Kashmir. I want to tell them Bhaderwah is Bhaderwah and people have become aware now. They will not cast their votes for the leaders who raise hollow slogans but would vote for such candidates who can address their issues.” |
