RPI, Parivartan Movement leaders detained by police | Do justice with 60,000 daily wagers in J&K: RPI | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 20: Republican Party of India (RPI) and Parivartan Movement have expressed concern over continued neglect of 60,000 daily rate wagers in Jammu and Kashmir who have been deprived of their rights and continued to deny wages act. Party has also expressed concern over the anti-youth decision of the Government especially with the candidates who had applied for Border Battalion proposed by the Government in 2019. Addressing a joint statement, RPI (J&K) president Tanveer Hussain, RPI vice President Raj Kumar Goyal and Parivartan Movement chief Sunil Singh Kamboj urged the Union Territory Administration to address the concern of aspirants. The leaders were detained by police during the protest. Large number of protesters raised slogan against the government and demanded that daily wagers should get their rights as promised by the successive governments for years. “Even after the abrogation of Article 370 has been scrapped in Jammu and Kashmir but future of thousands of DRW workers engaged in PHE, PDD, PWD (R&B), Agriculture Department, Estates Department, Floriculture Department, PMGSY for decades hangs in balance as UT administration has failed to come up with any concrete policy for their regularization as promised by the successive governments”, said Tanveer. They are considered the backbone of maintaining the public and civic system but for decades they have been neglected first by the erstwhile Jammu and Kashmir government and now by the UT administration. He said that protests will be held across Jammu and Kashmir to draw attention of the government towards the plight of daily rate workers. “For years now daily wagers have been denied wages and the regularisation process is going at snail’s pace. It is a total violation of rules and fundamental rights of workers who are working to ensure drinking water supply”, said Sunil Singh Kamboj, Parivartan Movement. The leaders warned that if the government continues to ignore the issues of daily wagers, the agitation will be intensified. They demanded that thousands of families are waiting for justice as denial of minimum wages is against the fundamental rights enshrined in the constitution of India. Others who were present during protest included RPI vice-president Raj Kumar Goyal, Gen Secretary Harmeet Singh Sasan, Sunil Singh Kamboj, Adil Chandal, Aditya Tickoo, Pankaj Langoo, Arif Khan, Rathin Mehra, North Youth President RPI and Kritika Mehra Student wing President Jammu District, Amir Khan, Rpi sports wing President, Pir Panchal president riyaz Ahmed madni, Yousuf anjum, mushtaq Ahmed qadri. |
