Increasing governance deficit: Important decision on J&K after UP polls | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 20: Getting disturbing reports about the complete collapse of the system in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, the Centre is going to take some important decisions regarding J&K after the completion of the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections. The Union Government in general and BJP leadership, in particular, is worried over the increasing governance deficit in the highly sensitive UT of J&K because the incumbent regime in the Union Territory has miserably failed to connect with people at the grassroots level. Highly placed sources said that some agencies have sounded the Union Government about lack of coordination among higher-ups, who are running all affairs in J&K. “Lack of coordination among higher-ups in the government was exposed in a recently held higher-level meeting to review the functioning of various departments”, sources said and added that Union Government has already received feedback that in J&K alienation among people was increasing with every passing day due to governance deficit and failure of the administration to connect with the masses. “Gap with the masses and administration is widening with every passing day. Those at the helm of the affairs are not taking peoples’ problems seriously. They are living in their own shell and appears to be not interested in solving day to day problems of the common masses”, sources said and added that it was all due to this attitude of the incumbent government that all efforts of the Union Government after the abrogation of Article 370 were backfired. Not only intelligence agencies, but even the local unit of BJP also has already cautioned the Centre that anti-people policies being pursued by the present bureaucratic regime in J&K would be proved disastrous for the party in coming assembly elections. |
