JPDCL spending crores on advertisement; poor workers not getting regular wages
2/23/2022 12:15:59 AM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Feb 22: While poor daily wager and need-base workers of the Power Development Department (PDD) are agitating to get regular wages to save their families from starvation, the bureaucratic government has so far spent crores to rupees on the advertisement to give a fake impression about power reforms in J&K.
For the last one month, every day the cash-starved Union Territory of J&K is spending lakhs of rupees on the advertisement to give a fake impression that power infrastructure has been strengthening and people are getting uninterrupted power supply with the solution of the problem of voltage fluctuation.
Interestingly, this advertisement campaign has been started during the period when power consumption is very less in Jammu province.
Jammu province will witness uninterrupted power supply and voltage fluctuation in the months of May, June, July and August.
Furthermore, highly placed sources said that this advertisement campaign has been launched just to give benefit to some agencies.
Highly placed sources in the Jammu Power Development Corporation Limited (JPDCL) revealed that daily wagers and need-based workers, who belong to poor families, are not getting regular salaries. “The higher-ups in the JPDCL are giving the excuse of the paucity of funds for not releasing regular salaries of these poor employees”, a source said, adding, “for publicity the department is spending lakhs and lakhs of rupees”.
“It is the first time in the history of J&K that the department is pumping huge funds on advertisement but daily wagers and other poor workers are struggling to get regular wages”, sources said.
