JAMMU, Feb 25: The daily wagers, casual labourers and need based employees of different government departments today met here and formed a united forum so as to take their fight to a logical conclusion.
The forum has decided to hold a one day protest at Press Club Jammu on March 4.
Talking to media persons at the culmination of the meeting the forum office bearers said that there is a need to form a joint platform so that the demands are projected in a forceful manner.
They said the same would give a new dimension to their fight and the government would be forced to accept their demands.
“In the past we would fight separately and as such no pressure could be built upon the government. We have decided to forego our differences and form a joint platform in support of our demands. We would force the government to concede our demands and not sit back until that,” said the forum members in one voice.
The forum members said that the administration should come out with minimum wage policy and also draw a comprehensive plan for the regularization of the daily wagers, casual labourers and need based workers of the different government departments. The forum members belonged to Power Development Department, Jal Shakti department, Local Bodies and other government departments. |
