Only children’s literature can save children The deadly effects of social media

We all know the fact that the learning process of a child starts during pregnancy. As for the child’s reading, as the child regains consciousness, he begins to read around him. He cannot tell what he reads because he is not able to speak but when he grows up he expresses his experiences by crying, laughing or laughing. The first lesson of the lesson begins when the child begins this process. Now we come to the part where we talk about the middle ground. They want to know more. That’s why they have a barrage of questions, which keep popping up all the time. They keep asking about everything, what is it, what is it, who is it and why? Parents should always be ready to answer such questions. If we do not respond to them, their curiosity will not be satisfied.
Books with color illustrations
When we show a picture to a three- or four-year-old child, he automatically asks questions about it. When we tell a short story or a poem about that image, it asks about the image on the next page. This is how he gets into the habit of listening to stories about these paintings. Then when he starts going to school he tries to form a word with each letter. He wants stories of elephants and horses related to these words to be told. He tries to read the text on the picture himself. Books on birds and animals thus inspired the nursery child to read. The problem of primary school students is that about half of them are not able to read Punjabi properly. If they can’t read properly then how can they get the taste of Punjabi literature? We do not offer books and magazines to those who can read Punjabi.
Commendable efforts of the Department of Education
The school education department is working with great interest. Literature is being promoted by honoring the teacher writers / artists, thereby inculcating healthy values in the children. Recognizing the greatness of children’s literature, excellent books and children’s magazines have also been provided in it, which is giving ample knowledge to the children as well as teachers on this subject. In fact, parents and teachers are no longer interested in reading. Children have to be inspired by both. So first of all parents and teachers have to keep a good collection of books at home to create an environment so that the child can get something out of this collection. Parents and teachers should also tell which book is beneficial for which child. Special care should be taken of the age group in this election. As we are studying this subject in three categories Nursery, Primary and Secondary. This classification can be further deepened according to one’s convenience, as separate groups of eleventh and twelfth graders can be formed. Books can then be selected according to their needs.
The role of teachers and parents
Teachers and parents play an important role in inculcating interest in reading in children. If we make room for children’s books in our home budget then children can engage with them at home. How can this interest be aroused when the doors of the school library appear to be closed? Punjab’s secondary school libraries are also not open. Even if the libraries of a few schools are open, there is a dearth of children’s magazines in them. Reading children’s literature improves one’s personality.
Children who read children’s literature, their thinking power goes far beyond the rest. They develop their personality to such an extent that they are deeply rooted in every field. Children’s interest in reading can be nurtured by books and children’s magazines published according to their age and age group.
Bookstore to be opened for children
Our mother tongue can be enriched by making it an employment and court language. Librarians should be set up in every school and books should be opened for children. Include a daily library in the school timetable. Provide books at affordable prices to keep children at home. In collaboration with NRIs, the government should set up a mobile (van) library in every district to promote and sell children’s books in every school and village. This will not only create interest in reading among the children but will also start a book culture in Punjab.
Only with healthy children’s literature can we save children from the deadly effects of social media. So the mobile library of each district can also contribute to the development of reading comprehension in children. If teachers and parents are aware of this then success can be achieved.
