I want to do something better in life, says minor Bakerwal boy | ‘Didn’t attend school for 2-years as we are poor’ | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 6: Tall claims of the government to set up mobile schools for the children of Gujjar and Bakarwal community in Jammu and Kashmir seem confined to papers only. A head of a Bakerwal family that had set up its migratory home near Jumbo Zoo in Jammu, while talking to a news channel said, “We are packing our bags and moving to Anantnag as the schools have reopened. Our children have not gone to schools for the past two years.” The family head said that he along with children of his brother is moving to Kashmir and has asked his brother to stay behind to take care of the sheep and other animals. “During the past two years we missed our classes as we are poor. I want to do something better in life but members of our community don’t get the equal opportunities,” said a minor boy. He said, “We have seen our parents struggling and wandering from one place to another. But we want a permanent house where we can spend our life.” |
