Four-day national level Holi festival starts at Sujanpur Tira | | | Agencies
Hamirpur (HP), Mar 15: The four-day national level Holi festiva l began at the historic Chaugan (huge ground) on Tuesday, in the presence of Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur. Earlier, Thakur took part in a colorful procession that was taken out from the entrance of the town to the world- famous Murli Manohar temple,where the Minister also offered Puja and sought blessings from Lord Krishna and Maa Radha for the well-being and welfare of the people and his family. He also inaugurated an exhibition pandaI that was put up in Chaugan and also went through the exhibitions. He took keen interest in the exhibitions displayed by the government agencies and the private parties and patted them for their work. On the second day of the programme tomorrow, HP Panchayati Raj Minister Virendra Kanwar will be the them for their work. Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur will take part in the closing day function on March 18 and also take part in Holi celebrations with the local people, as per the old rituals. There was a huge rush at Chaugan, as people were seen making purchases of var ious types of items, especially items used in summer season. Deputy Commissioner Debasweta Banik, SP Akriti Sharma, the elite of the town and leaders of BJP were present on the occasion. |
