GDC Bijbehara student dies of electrocution; students hold protest, blame PDD for death | | | Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, Mar 23: In yet another incident of negligence by the Power Development Department (PDD) a student of Government Degree College (GDC) Bijbehara in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district died after getting electrocuted after he came with a live wire outside the college premises. Reports reaching here said that some of the students of GDC Bijbehara were playing volleyball and during the same the ball went out of the college premises. A student namely Umar Farooq son of Farooq Ahmad Ganie, resident of Dariegund went out to fetch the ball but received electric shock after getting in contact with a live wire. The student was shifted to nearest health centre where the doctors declared him as brought dead. Following this incident the students protested against the PDD and blamed the department for Umar’s death. The students resorted to high pitch sloganeering on this occasion and the situation turned normal after some time. |
