Srinagar, Mar 27: The Government Primary School at Upparsh in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district has been awaiting basic facilities for the past 22-years. Sarpanch of the area, Younis Khan, while talking to a local news channel said that there are 84 students enrolled in this school and the government has posted only 3 teachers for them. “The school building was constructed in the year 2000 and after that no repair work has taken place till date. The building has developed cracks and in case of any natural disaster the building can collapse.” > 84 students taught by 3 teachers > Space crunch, no drinking water facility add to woes of children Kahn said that his repeated pleas have fallen flat as the officials haven’t paid any heed towards his pleas. “The children have to get drinking water from their homes as there is no drinking water facility available in the school,” he said, adding, “The children from weaker sections of the society are enrolled in this school and the government should pay some attention towards it. My humble request to the LG Sinha led administration is to get the school building repaired and provide students with the basic facilities like drinking water and proper space to study.” |
