| Doda police launches special drive against poppy cum opium cultivation | | |  Early Times Report
DODA, Apr 2: Alongside a special drive against drug paddlers manufacturing and selling of illicit liquor and other criminal activities, Doda Police has also launched a special drive against opium cultivators in District Doda.
While giving details, Doda Police said that a case FIR No. 54/2022 under relevant sections of NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Doda on the receipt of information through reliable sources that some farmers in Babore area of Doda are cultivating the Poppy/Opium in their land. The investigation of the case has been started and a team of Police station Doda led by Inspector Arun Prakash , SHO P/S Doda assisted by SI Mohd. Shafi swung into action to book the persons involved in illegal cultivation of Poppy/opium.
Police informed that as per section 8 of NDPS Act. " No person shall cultivate the opium/poppy or any cannabis plant"
Doda Police has warned the farmers to desist from such illegal/banned cultivation, else stringent action will be taken, if any landowner is found involved in such illegal cultivation. |
