Early Times Report JAMMU, Apr 2: People are victims of various social evils, domestic violence and need of the hour was to promote moral values and age old rich ethos of Indian culture to further strengthen the bonds of mutual brotherhood and peace. This was stated by Sham Lal Sharma, J&K BJP Vice President and former minister while inaugurating free book distribution fair in connection with birth centenary year of Dr Pandit Uttam Chand Pathak Shastri here today. Students from class nursery up to class XII were provided with 25000 thousand books by organizing camps free of cost at SD Memorial School, Bhalwal. The former minister Sham Lal Sharma, who was the chief guest, said that the younger generation was heading towards westernization and forgetting its roots, which would prove disastrous for the society. It is the duty of parents, teachers and social organizations to give right direction to the younger generation enabling them to preserve their heritage and rich traditions. He called upon all the communities to make collective efforts to bring social reforms, which are mandatory for the development of mankind. On the occasion, Dr. Udham Sharma, SDM Jammu North was the special guest, said that knowledge of Indian culture and tradition is incomplete without Devvani Sanskrit. Prof. Madan Mohan Jha, Director, Central Sanskrit University, Jammu said that the free distribution of the books is being done today as Indian New Year, it is a very commendable work, due to which the poor families living in the society are greatly benefitted. During this, Mahant Rohit Shastri, head of Srikailakh Jyotish and Vedic Sansthan Trust, said that since ancient times in our Indian culture, education and aids were distributed free of cost to the students, so that every person in the society would have access to education. . On this occasion, Rakesh Gandotra said that we should make efforts to engage the public through such initiatives. Swami Yagyadhara Anand , Sarpanch Rajdev Singh, Uttam Sharma, Pawan Khajuria, and others were also present. |
