Another PDD lineman dies while repairing electric line | Family alleges negligence, demands probe | | Early Times Report
Baramulla, Apr 11: Just two days after a casual labourer died while repairing an electricity line in North Kashmir’s Ajas area, another PDD labourer died of electrocution at Khenpeth Singhpora area in Pattan area on Monday. According to the details available with Early Times a 32-year old lineman, Ghulam Rasool Wani received an electric shock when he was repairing a wire in the Khenpeth Singhpora area of Pattan. He was rushed to a hospital where doctors declared him “brought dead.” After his death the family members of the deceased staged a protest and accused the PDD officials of negligence. “He (Wani) had informed the grid that he was repairing the line but someone at the main station switched on the electricity which led to his instant death. This is a clear case of negligence,” they said. They demanded a probe and compensation for the Next of Kin of the deceased. It’s in place to mention here that 2-days ago a lineman had fallen from a pole and died at Ajas in North Kashmir’s Bandipora area while repairing an electric line. |
