Satish Singh’s murder punctures normalcy claims
Selective killings of minorities continue unabated in Kashmir; authorities in deep slumber

Early Times Report

Jammu, Apr 14: Gruesome killing of civilian Satish Kumar Singh has exposed tall claims of administration about having contained the terrorism in Kashmir.
Targeted and selective killings of civilians are going unabated in Kashmir and those at the helm of the affairs are busy issuing hard-hitting statements.
Except for issuing hard-hitting statements nothing concrete has been done to contain terror activities in Kashmir where terrorists are targeting civilians after repeated intervals to create fear among people.
The recent targeted killings of civilians have created a sense of fear and insecurity among civilians and non-locals living in different parts of Kashmir.
Highly placed sources in the corridors of power said that Union Home Ministry has also taken very serious note of the ongoing selective killings in Kashmir.
As already reported terrorists killed a man in Kulgam district on Wednesday evening. Satish Kumar Singh, a driver by profession, was shot in Kulgam’s Kakran village. He was critically injured and shifted to a local hospital but succumbed to his injuries on the way.
Officials said he was shot in the head from a point-blank range. He was declared dead on arrival at the hospital.
“Civilian Satish Kumar Singh, a resident of Kulgam, succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. Terrorists involved in this gruesome terror crime will be neutralized soon. Search to track the involved terrorists in progress,” the Kashmir Police tweeted on Wednesday.
Wednesday’s attack was the latest in a series of targeted attacks on migrant workers and local minorities that have been sweeping Kashmir over the last seven months.
• This was the sixth targeted attack since April 2 when two non-local labourers were wounded in Pulwama.
• The next day, April 3, a similar militant attack injured two non-locals again in Pulwama.
• The same day, two CRPF personnel were attacked in Srinagar, following which one of them succumbed.
• A pharmacy owner was also shot at in Shopian the same day.
• On April 7, again a non-local labourer, Sonu Sharma, was attacked in the thigh in Yadur village of Pulwama.
Meanwhile, a release from a little-known outfit, Kashmir Freedom Fighters (KFF), claimed the responsibility for Wednesday’s attack.
